Overview

My role in the Spectrum News Apple TV app was to be a dedicated prototyper to build out a convincing app concept to be used for usability lab testing and final executive buy-in for the project. My involvement in the project was very similar to the original Spectrum News mobile concepts where I handled upstream deliverables focused entirely on interaction design. 

My design partner for the project was Tyler Ackelbien who had been leading the platform UX and UI for the app. Tyler’s team had been collaborating with the Video team which I am a part of and requested assistance with TV specific prototyping which is where I came in. I worked side by side with Tyler to analyze his UI and UX flows to discuss possible interactive experiences with now patterns and formulated a strategy to build a prototype which could run on an apple TV with various apple remotes.

The lab testing was completed in Q1 of 2022 and received positive and informative feedback. The prototype along with research findings lead to executive approval of the project and is in its final development stages scheduled for consumer release at the end of 2022.
